Goin’ to Gil Festival Weekend

Come along to the Goin’ to Gil Festival Weekend and experience three big days of community celebrations, local shopping, live entertainment, markets, family activities and plenty of country spirit across the Gilgandra Region.

Friday 25 September

Kick off the weekend with Shop Like a Local from 9am, before heading to Armatree for the Street Party @ Armatree from 4pm. Celebrate the opening of the weekend with the lighting of the Big ArmaTREE at the Armatree Memorial Precinct.

The Coo-ee Heritage Centre will also be open from 9am to 4pm, with galleries and collections showcasing the history and stories of the Gilgandra region. The Gilgandra Museum will be open from 9am to 1pm, featuring agricultural machinery, exhibits and displays from the region’s past.

Saturday 26 September

Start the day with Shop Like a Local from 9am, followed by #LocalLegends Busking in Miller Street from 10am. The Plant Sale at St Ambrose Memorial Anglican Church will also run from 9am to 2pm.

At 12pm, the Goin’ to Gil Street Parade will make its way along Miller Street, featuring #LocalLegends, Sesame Street, SpongeBob SquarePants, vintage cars, emergency services and more.

The celebrations continue in the afternoon with Under the Gums at the Gilgandra Cultural Precinct, with gates opening at 1:30pm. Enjoy live music, food, brews, family activities, fireworks and more before heading to the After Party! at Gilgandra Sporties from 9:30pm.

Sunday 27 September

Sunday brings a morning of fun with the Gil Triathlon, including the Gilgandra Toyota Colour Run at Windmill Walk from 9am, Gilgandra CWA Watermelon Eating Competition in Miller Street at 10am and the Gilgandra IGA Coo-ee Call Competition at Gil Library Hub Plaza at 10:30am.

The Gilgandra CWA Markets will be held in Miller Street from 9am, with local stalls and live music from Clancy Pye. Then head to Tooraweenah for Tunes in Toora from 12pm, featuring a Sunday session, long lunch and art activities at Tooraweenah Memorial Park.
